I’m so excited to be sharing my friend’s lakeside home with you! Denise Rowe is a professional photographer whose eye for detail reflects in her work and her home. She is creative, artistic and also one of the loveliest people I know.
Denise and Randy Rowe built their home waaaaay off the beaten path on the back side of Harvey Lake. She appropriately refers to it as “The Bubble”. It’s about 5 km from paved road but once you arrive, you know you’ve found a haven. It is COMPLETELY off the grid! I told her that when the zombie apocalypse goes down, she can expect my crew, kids, dog, cat. We are all coming to hold out!
Their home is solar powered with propane appliances and a generator for back up. Wood and propane provide their heat.
The layout is an open concept with large windows to take in the lake. It is a perfect size for two at 20 x 30 feet, with two levels plus a mudroom.
Once you enter the main house from the mudroom, you can see straight out to the lake. Their piece of property is very private so no need for window treatments which would minimize that amazing view.
The kitchen is bright with windows instead of upper cabinets, and a hutch provides further storage. The hutch is painted with Fusion Mineral Paint in Buttermilk Cream. The built in cabinets are painted with Fusion’s Lamp White. The wide plank floors and exposed beams suit the environment perfectly while the painted walls and cabinets keep the space airy and light.
The cozy living room invites you in for a cup of tea and a good book.
Step out to the screened-in porch and take in all of nature’s gifts. I could spend hours here and those Adirondack chairs offer a perfect resting spot for a cold drink.
A loft serves as the master bedroom and again, offers tranquil views of the lake. The owners certainly take every advantage to enjoy their surroundings. Wouldn’t this be a wonderful space to wake up to each morning?
But who would want to be inside on a sunny day like this? Lets head down to the dock. Aaaahhh… This is the life! Maybe later we can make a fire and roast some marshmallows.
Thanks for having me, Denise! And don’t worry! I’ll help with the cooking and cleaning when the zombie apocalypse comes down.
