Here’s another Christmas house tour for you! It’s a beauty!
Chris and Ross Lister graciously allowed me to photograph their charming home so I could share it with you all.
I just gotta say – I love my job! Getting to visit these gorgeous homes and see how they are decorated is so much fun!
Chris and Ross are adventurous sorts and moved to Lesotho, Africa for nine years when their four children were between the ages of three and twelve years old. Talk about an adventure! They also lived in Java, Indonesia. Upon returning to New Brunswick, they opened Trade Winds Imports, a popular store in St Andrews selling diverse wares from the countries they had journeyed.
Their home is full of treasures from abroad mixed with Canadian antiques. It’s an eclectic mix that is incredibly interesting and at the same time, very warm and inviting. You will see Moroccan and Afghani rugs scattered throughout the house, original art work, animal skins and hand crafted furniture.
As I entered through the front door, I could see into the living room, down the hallway to the dining room and up the stairway decked in fresh garland. Lets take a look at the living room first.
The Christmas tree is perfectly lovely and I can envision myself curling up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate.
The dining room is suited for a big family dinner with the gorgeous candle lit chandelier hanging above. I love the way they have displayed their plate collection in an erratic pattern on the wall.
The Listers remodelled the kitchen after buying the historic house in 2003. It’s a large, bright country kitchen and I love Chris’s personal decorating touch. Ross reconfigured the little, antique table made of kiaat wood from South Africa and added a drawer per Chris’s request.
Chris collects corks and created this interesting board using them. She draped a chain of antique enamel mugs from Africa over it and it’s a work of art!
As we head up stairs, you will see the collection of South African masks displayed on the wall. So cool!
Chris told me about a trip to Holland where she purchased this prayer chair from a church that was selling off their possessions. She had to have it and brought it home on the plane with her.
Lovely bedrooms await the kids and grandkids who come to visit from different points across the country.
This is a fun grouping in the bathroom – a collection of chamber pot lids on the wall!
Chris was a source of great knowledge and inspiration when I opened my home decor shop in 2014 and she was very kind to help me so much. It’s been a real treat to visit her and Ross in their lovely home.
Watch for my next home tour coming soon. Another historic St Andrews home will be featured.
Thanks for dropping by!
